Covid rares its ugly head… again.

We’ve seen it all during this pandemic, haven’t we? So we thought.. “As we return to normalcy” is an oxymoron. Normalcy will never be again. Nothing will be the same. The fact of the matter remains that millions of people are out of work, permanently or furloughed. This virus killed over 200,000 Americans, (as of this date), which by the way is about 4 times the number of Americans that died in Vietnam. Some Covid deaths were very close to home.. family members stricken with the virus were able to recover, thankfully. But many were not able to recover.

Its September 21, the first day of Fall. The pandemic really grabbed its attention on March 19 the first day of Spring. Today, 6 months later, as the nation is re-opening, the virus is causing more casualties, pink slips. This my friends is first hand, real life. I see the team that I’ve been with for the last 10 years just go away. Their employment terminated and they are invited to re-apply once the hotel re-opens. This was one person in our department. Other team members will be receiving letters too, some I won’t know about until I return back. I think I’m going to be ok? Based on my sales numbers in 2019, I should be ok. Which brings up a whole new posting… How my 2019 sales could have saved my job in a pandemic.

But now, I’m grieving for my team. They are good people, great friends, that didn’t ask for this. No, nothing is going to be the same.
