Meet Murray….

Everybodylovesjack.com celebrates Murray Bresky, founder of Murray’s Chickens! Good job in supplying great chickens Murray!

You’re going to see a little of everything on this blog! Whatever creeps on my radar, will creep to the blog. So Happy New Year my fellow Tribesman and women!

Celebrating Rosh Hashana with my mom recently, she tells me that she bought Murray’s Chickens for dinner and for her delicious Matzo ball soup. I was intrigued, why Murray’s Chickens? What made them so special? I never heard her talk about Murray’s Chickens before. So I asked and the answer surprised me: “He has good chickens”.

Thats it? No, thats not good enough.. there has to be a better story. To be honest I was going to make up a chicken story… Little old farmer guy looking to trade his old cow who stopped giving milk for a chicken with promise! No, I couldn’t do this to this man. So as a responsible journalist, (thats me), I did some chicken research. The key to Murray’s Chickens is that his chickens are happier and healthier than most chickens. And evidently a happier chicken makes for a higher quality meat.

Well, after extensive research consisting of interviews and store visits, the fact of the matter is that there is no story here… Murray provides great tasting chickens and thats all there is to it! No, I’m not getting paid for this.

Covid rares its ugly head… again.

We’ve seen it all during this pandemic, haven’t we? So we thought.. “As we return to normalcy” is an oxymoron. Normalcy will never be again. Nothing will be the same. The fact of the matter remains that millions of people are out of work, permanently or furloughed. This virus killed over 200,000 Americans, (as of this date), which by the way is about 4 times the number of Americans that died in Vietnam. Some Covid deaths were very close to home.. family members stricken with the virus were able to recover, thankfully. But many were not able to recover.

Its September 21, the first day of Fall. The pandemic really grabbed its attention on March 19 the first day of Spring. Today, 6 months later, as the nation is re-opening, the virus is causing more casualties, pink slips. This my friends is first hand, real life. I see the team that I’ve been with for the last 10 years just go away. Their employment terminated and they are invited to re-apply once the hotel re-opens. This was one person in our department. Other team members will be receiving letters too, some I won’t know about until I return back. I think I’m going to be ok? Based on my sales numbers in 2019, I should be ok. Which brings up a whole new posting… How my 2019 sales could have saved my job in a pandemic.

But now, I’m grieving for my team. They are good people, great friends, that didn’t ask for this. No, nothing is going to be the same.

Jack’d Up! Life during Covid

No, I’m not going to share with you the “numbers” or the “phase” we are in here in South Florida. But I will share with you my observations; an update on what I’ve been up to, and please let me know on a scale of 1-10, my sanity level.

  • I must have gained weight, my mask is getting a bit tighter!
  • I’ve noticed that watching an iguana on a papaya tree is like watching water boil. The minute you look away, either the water boils over or the Iguana is gone.
  • I know when all the good tv shows are on during the day, starting with Leave it to Beaver at 8am, Father Knows Best, Dennis The Menace, Hazel, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched… should I go on? Lol, it ends with Hogans Heroes at 11pm… Thank you Me TV!
  • I’ve read numerous books, both fiction and self improvement. The latest book was eye-opening and life changing! But I’ll do another post just on books, like a book club.. Does that mean that this pandemic is making me soft?
  • I’ve completed an on-line Hospitality class from FAU and earned a certificate. I guess that makes me certifiably more hospitable.
  • Speaking of watching tv, those daytime commercials on non-networks… cheap advertisers… they are terrible! I hate that commercial about the law suit against Johnson and Johnson with their baby powder causing Ovarian Cancer. the commercial goes on forever and its always in the middle of Dennis The Menace! And what about that health insurance commercial that came on shortly after the pandemic started.. his voice sounded like the devil talking! The point of the commercial was that if you didn’t have health insurance, you are going to die!
  • Thank g-d football is back! It almost feels normal on Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons. A brief moment in time comparatively speaking to feeling like we have our live’s back. I ain’t gonna lie, but when I see the empty stadiums, I feel a moment of loss and despair. The sport was built by fans for fans and without them participating, I feel the sport falls short.

A Shortage on Dumbbells

There is definitely not a shortage on people with less than stellar brain activity, but there is a shortage on the dumbbells that people use for weightlifting.

When gyms and fitness studios first closed due to the pandemic starting in March, there was a run on exercise equipment. Dumbbells and other exercise equipment quickly sold out as people scrambled to set up their home gyms.

Now as gyms are beginning to re-open, exercise equipment, particularly dumbbells and other free weights continue to be very hard to find. Not only is there a short supply, but whatever short supply that the stores have, are being quickly bought up since many are still afraid of heading back to the gyms.

The demand for weights is so high, in fact, that some gyms are encountering members stealing dumbbells! Now who’s smart and who’s a dumbbell?
